The mall first opened in 1974 as&nbsp;Towers Mall, named after its original anchor tenant, the Towers department store. From the start, it became a popular shopping destination for Islanders.&nbsp; A major expansion in 1990 introduced Empire Theatres, adding a new entertainment experience that attracted families, movie-goers, and visitors from across&nbsp;the&nbsp;island. Just a year later, the mall entered a period of&nbsp;significant change. The Towers brand was&nbsp;purchased&nbsp;by The Hudson’s Bay Company and converted into a Zellers, prompting&nbsp;the first&nbsp;name change&nbsp;– now the&nbsp;Charlottetown Mall.&nbsp;This period also included the property’s first major renovation, giving the centre a fresh, modernized look.&nbsp; The early 2000s saw further growth as new anchor stores&nbsp;- including Winners,&nbsp;SportChek, Dollarama, and&nbsp;Moores&nbsp;Clothing for Men&nbsp;-&nbsp;joined the mall. These additions broadened the shopping experience and helped shape the retail mix that many Islanders still recognize today.&nbsp; In 2013, Empire Theatres rebranded as&nbsp;Cineplex Cinemas, continuing the tradition of providing a quality entertainment experience. That same year, Zellers closed its&nbsp;doors,&nbsp;and the space was taken over by Target, creating a buzz of excitement in the community. It was a running joke, a shared daydream, and a constant conversation between&nbsp;the two women. But beneath the laughter was a real ambition: to turn a passion for baking into something extraordinary.&nbsp;After attending culinary school and earning&nbsp;their&nbsp;Red Seal certifications,&nbsp;they&nbsp;had the training and the talent&nbsp;- they&nbsp;just needed the right moment.
